Why? Its AWESOME. Aprilia has the PERFECT recipe. Take the RSV Mille 1000 V-twin superbike, remove the fairings, give it upright bars for way more turning leverage and all-day comfort. Still the same roaring lion but without its clothes on . A V-twin 1000 with a counterbalance shaft, WAY smoother than my Ducati's. So much mumbo it will power wheelie in the 1st 3 gears with just the throttle. It cant help itself with such GOBS of torque.
I did a few sessions of the last track-day with it, WHOA BABY. Its lion roar sounds BRUTAL thru the short slip on race mufflers( factory ones are so huge, like off of a Buick Roadmaster) after the fuel delivery is re-mapped thru a Bazazz Race ECU as you tap your way effortlessly & clutchlessly thru the gears with the electronic shifter. Brembo brakes haul it down from speed. The 1 tooth smaller counter-sprocket & 2 teeth larger rear one take it right back up to speed again, RAPIDLY. Squeeze the CRG style levers with ease, as you prepare to rail it over while perched on the Danmoto rear-seat pegs. Nice sticky Continental Sport Attack 2 tires make it feel like it's on rails, with superb mechanical grip . Very handy on the street ,designed to stick before they even get up to temperature.
It has well over a couple grand worth of upgrades at my cost. This thing is a HOOT! It rips, Or can can just doddle along at town speeds to commute or to Walmart's front door .
I bought it wrecked because it was a good deal. It's what we do. I kept it for myself because it was just too fun to sell. We fixed it from upper front damage, so it is an R title. We changed the bodywork to the limited edition " factory" paint scheme which incorporated the lion heads on the tank. Larger smoked windscreen and vinyl colors we added there, gives the front end a much more balanced look intstead of The oem screen making it look like a praying mantis with bulging eyes.
